SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2011 DB2 for z/OS V10 Overview

This presentation will review the content of the DB2 10 for z/OS product that was recently made generally available. We’ll review the new SQL capabilities provided by features like bi-temporal tables, the new 64-bit exploitation that provides better overall system scalability, the new indexing and tablespace formats, and much more. DB2 10 provides an opportunity for customers to get current on the latest DB2 technology, and has important performance and availability improvements to help justify the cost of upgrading to DB2 10. DB2 10 can support migration from both DB2 9 for z/OS and DB2 for z/OS V8, so this is an exciting opportunity for all DB2 customers.

SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2011 Latest Improvements for Java Applications Using DB2

Many large enterprises are now using Java for a large percentage of their new application development work. Often, these same enterprises find that it is difficult to manage the life cycle of Java applications compared to technologies like Cobol. In this presentation, we will cover the latest improvements in DB2 and Data Studio that allow you to build, deploy, and operate Java applications with the same robust enterprise management capabilities that customers associate with their Cobol applications. We’ll look at the latest development tool improvements that make it easy to develop Java applications, runtime tools that allow you to manage and monitor Java programs more easily, and testing tools that will help you produce Java applications that are more enterprise-ready when they get promoted by the development team.

SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2008 pureQuery Technology -- Better Management of Java Apps

Objectives:
This presentation will describe the capabilities of the pureQuery technology, which makes application development for Java app easier. More importantly, pureQuery provides hooks in the Java application that tremendously simplify management, problem determination, and performance management of Java applications. The presentation will describe how customers can take advantage of these features. Material will also be presented that describes how pureQuery fits into the open source frameworks like Spring, iBatis, openJPA, and Hibernate.

Outline:
Overview of pureQuery APIs and capabilities
Integration into Spring
Integration into iBatis
Integration into openJPA

Full Abstract:
This presentation will describe IBM's new pureQuery technology, which provides a much more manageable infrastructure of Java applications that access databases. pureQuery has new Java API capabilities that make accessing the database much more flexible and powerful. Applications that exploit pureQuery are automatically enabled for superior problem determination, performance monitoring, and problem determination assistance for the IT staff. The presentation will also reveiw recent contributions from IBM to the open source (iBatis, Spring, OpenJPA) that allows IBM's JDBC and pureQuery solutions to run in the popular open source frameworks.
