European SQLAdria Seminar – Šibenik 2017 The Tracing Guide to the DB2 Galaxy

Have you ever wanted to understand the behaviour of your DB2 system, determine what is going right or wrong and why? DB2 tracing is one of the strongest, but least understood, mechanisms that is out there to answer exactly these questions. In this presentation you will get a solid understanding of DB2 instrumentation facility, you will be guided through the variety of DB2 traces and learn how they would help to address system monitoring and tuning challenges. European SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2015 Lost without a trace
Tracing is one of the strongest, but least understood, mechanisms available to you with DB2. It gives you the ability to lift up the hood, helping you determine what is going wrong and why. So don't be lost for answers when DB2 hangs or consumes to many resources, start tracing. This presentation will equip you with a good understanding of DB2 traces in general, as well as when and how to best use them. It will also show you the most useful tracing abilities available to you with DB2 10 and 11. The presentation will be based on techniques and practices that can be applied with any DB2 performance monitoring tool.
In this session, you will learn about :
  • DB2 tracing mechanism
  • Most useful trace data and related use cases
  • New trace information in DB2 11

15 June 2015
14:15 - 15:15
European SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2015 What Application Developers need to know about SQL in DB2 for z/OS?
Applications often rely on a Database to manipulate data, typically using SQL statements. DB2 for z/OS is one of those databases; one of the most robust, reliable and secure for that matter. However, Application Developers need to keep in mind that DB2 for z/OS has its SQL specificities. For instance, the SQL available in DB2 for z/OS is compliant with SQL:2003 standard. What does it exactly mean? What IBM is doing to raise the level of the DB2 SQL to later standards? How does this affect Application Developers – ever heard of APPLCOMPAT? What are the new SQL capabilities introduced in DB2 over the years? Is there something new in this area when using DB2 10 or DB2 11?
In this session, you will learn about :
  • Incompatible SQL changes in DB2 for z/OS
  • How to address incompatible SQL changes
  • New SQL capabilities in DB2 for z/OS

14 June 2015

European SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2015 What’s new in CA SYSVIEW for DB2?
CA SYSVIEW Option for DB2 for z/OS is a real-time monitor that provides database administrators with the tools they need to maximize DB2 system and application performance. As both DB2 applications and DB2 itself increase in complexity and grow in size, optimizing performance is becoming increasingly critical. In this presentation we will discuss what CA SYSVIEW for DB2 offers in order to address these challenges, review its recent improvements and speak about product strategy and explain specific areas the development is working on.
In this session, you will learn about :
  • How CA SYSVIEW for DB2 helps monitoring DB2 performance
  • What are the new features of CA SYSVIEW for DB2 18.0
  • High-level plans for the next release

European SQLAdria Seminar – Dubrovnik 2014 CA DB2 Performance Monitoring: Insights into CA Insight DPM

This first part of presentation will focus on major DB2 10 trace enhancements and demonstrate how the CA Insight Database Performance Monitor addresses those. The second part will cover the product strategy and explain specific areas the development is working on. Customers will be asked to participate to the session, by providing candid feedback on the presented features and suggesting ideas to the product management
