Bio

Roland Schock is one of the founders of ARS Computer und Consulting GmbH in Munich, Germany. He is using DB2/LUW since 1994 aka DB2 2.1 for OS/2 and is Certified DB2 Administrator and DB2 Developer since 1997. Since 2014 Roland Schock holds the award "IBM Champion for Analytics". He speaks frequently at conferences and regional user group meetings.

Database codepage conversion can be a tricky business. Beginning with a general overview of codepages, where they are specified and where conversion is done, we cover also collation orders and their performance impact. Then we discuss the conversion process itself, including pitfalls, where the app vendor stores strings in different codepages, unknown to Db2. This requires special export/load considerations. The audience will learn how to do a successful conversion.
